footy4climate

We all want to do our bit to tackle climate change but playing games all over the country means a lot of travel, which also means a lot of carbon emissions.

Since electric planes aren’t viable (yet), and you can’t play footy on zoom, we’ve partnered up with Go Neutral in a #footy4climate campaign to help AFL Players offset their emissions - covering flights, ground transport and our personal cars.

For AFLW players, the average transport emissions for the 2021 season is approximately 3.7 tonnes of carbon dioxide, which will grow with more teams and more travel. 3.7 tonnes is a bit more than an average Australian car creates in a year.

For AFLM players, the average transport emissions are approximately 8 tonnes of carbon dioxide. To put this in perspective, that’s about half of the average Australian’s yearly carbon footprint. It’s enough to drive a fuel-efficient car (5L/100kms) about 70,000kms. The same as driving from Perth to Sydney and back about 9 times.

Go Neutral

Go Neutral offsets with 100% Australian Carbon Credits, sourced from projects that remove and store carbon by regenerating native Aussie bushland. By regenerating bushland the projects we support don’t just remove emissions, they also improve biodiversity and help restore landscapes right here in Australia.
