  • Our Local

  • The Cool Down Podcast

Introducing The Cool Down – by Footy for Climate & Producey, powered by Bank Australia. Host Tom Campbell is joined by an AFL or AFLW player and an expert as they discuss an issue related to climate change and how we can tackle it together.

TOGETHER WE CAN TACKLE CLIMATE CHANGE

Footy for Climate acknowledges that sovereignty was never ceded. As we continue to work toward a better future for all, it’s important to look at our past.

Aussie rules football - the game we love, and the game that has given us so much - comes from Marngrook, a First Nations game.  The land we live on - the land we love, that has given us so much - is under threat.  By looking after Country properly, it can start to heal. To heal Country, we must work with the traditional people who have looked after this land for over 80,000 years.

We acknowledge past elders who have nurtured and managed the land and look to their knowledge for guidance.  We acknowledge current elders who use that same knowledge to care for the land today. And we commit to working with emerging elders so we can walk hand in hand toward a future all Australian people can be proud of.

The AFL and AFLPA recognises Footy for Climate as an important player led organisation which aims to protect the future of footy at all levels from the impacts of Climate Change.
