What is Game On?

In April 2026, the Australian Government announced the mechanics of the “Game On: Teaming Up for Climate Action” program, a $35 million fund designed to help community sports clubs become more climate resilient and energy efficient.

Clubs can apply for grants of up to $100,000 to upgrade facilities, including projects like solar, battery storage, and other improvements that reduce energy costs and keep clubs running despite extreme weather.

For community clubs, this is an opportunity to improve facilities & reduce operating costs, ensuring communities can continue to come together & enjoy footy far into the future.

How Can Footy For Climate Help?

Through our Power Forward program, FFC will work with clubs applying for “Game On” grants, taking the load off volunteer club administration and councils.

FFC have worked with clubs like Mansfield and Myrtleford, who are already saving thousands each year while becoming resilience hubs for their communities and are looking to adapt this model to help more clubs across Australia.

Footy For Climate can help by:

  • Supporting grant applications

  • Connecting clubs with trusted providers & installers

  • Assisting clubs in telling the story that will put them in the best possible space for securing the funding.

  • Bringing the community together with launch events and player involvement

Importantly, there is no grant-writing experience needed - Footy for Climate can guide clubs through the entire process
